Bolten vs Sampson

It's hard to imagine Indiana's new coach getting more ink than the president's new chief of staff. Not when you consider the MSM's opinion of Dubya. Of course, IU's choice doesn't exactly fit with a tradition of excellence.

Just a thought.

Car Thief = Undocumented Driver

In keeping with the theme since the last post ROTT has it here.

H/T RWR .

Just an observation, but the parallel is obvious.

Undocumented Immigrants = Illegal Aliens

Over at RightWingRocker I came across this post . Of course he credits this ROTT post . It's an interesting observation of the politically correct jargon concerning illegal aliens.

to the MSM in general: Cut it out with the "undocumented immigrants"
Newspeak, because nobody is falling for it. At least not anybody who isn't
already a drooling liberal moonbat. You're only making yourselves look silly.
Well, sillier actually, hard though that may be to imagine. What's next?
Bankrobbers being charged with "undocumented withdrawals?"

Only one problem with that little blurb. In today's USA, the bank robber WOULDN'T BE CHARGED.

Just an observation.

Al Qaeda, Bin Laden and Iraq Connection Verified Again

This time in this abcnews.go story . ABC News. I wonder if any of this information translated from Saddam's papers will make the ABC newscasts.

Following are the ABC News Investigative Unit's summaries of five
documents from Saddam Hussein's government, which have been released by the U.S.
government.
The documents discuss Osama bin Laden, weapons of mass
destruction, al Qaeda and more.

It's worth reading.

California Fascists (cont.)

Colonel Hogan , always one to point out when one's freedoms are being infringed on, also posted on the smoking ban in Calabasas, California.

I never believed, nor will I ever believe, that "second-hand smoke" is as
harmful as actually smoking--as it's put forth by the anti-smoking nazis and
pipelined through the news media. Too many variables: Second hand smoke in a
closed room? In a car? No ventilation? Yeah, that would be a problem if one is
in such a place with several smokers for several years, but there's no chance
that the occasional whiff one might catch in the open air of a sidewalk
restaurant is going to be an issue in the milieu of deisel, gasoline, coal and
wood smoke fumes that we breathe every day.

Very nicely said Colonel.

A Dangerous Court Ruling?

Ol' BC has heard of some strange court orders, but a judge ordering Viagra takes the cake.

Wonder if this type ruling will find its way into divorce court.

House In Session Less - Good!

This USATODAY article says the U.S. House of Representatives if on course to set a record.

The House of Representatives is on track this year to be in session for
fewer days than the Congress Harry Truman labeled as “do-nothing” during his
1948 re-election campaign.

That's going back a long time. However, there is a bright side. If they are not in session they are not spending more money. They are not passing new legislation that infringes on our rights. Any chance they could take off the rest of the year?

Fascism In California

The fascism of the wild eyed do gooders is taking root in one California city. Ol' BC has had a number of questions over the last several years regarding how he's lived to be middle aged without the government actively protecting me and every step I take. Well, you youngsters out there today won't have to fear. Pretty soon your right to make personal decisions will be stripped away in total. This is just so you don't make any foolish decisions. THEY will tell you none of this new facism is really enacted to inhibit your rights, it just does.

Some of you who paid any attention in history class may remember the fall of the Roman empire. It came when the government tried to provide for and think for everyone. Didn't work then. Won't work now either. (See all the failed communist and socialist efforts around the world.) But the do gooders seem determined to try. I just don't really know why.

Just an observation.

Anti-War Protest Flops

You'll have that from time to time. You can try to create some sense of anger, but sometimes it just isn't there no matter how hard you try to represent it.

This article tells of one big flop.

"There's just about more policemen here than people," said the Democratic
candidate for the Utah House of Representatives in District 40, nodding to the
squadron of eight motorcycle officers parked alongside 400 South.

Wow! What an outrage! It's obvious Sheehag and her cronies have had quite an effect.

Tom Daschle For Prez..Please Say Yes

This would alleviate all the ill feelings Ol' BC has for '08. Not that the GOP has indicated any plans for a quality candidate, this would pretty much solidify the lesser of the evils logic for the GOP unless you're a socialist or have a really strong anti-American bias.

The GOP has pretty much demonstrated that under Dubya they can outspend anyone, but I take comfort that we weren't subjected to the blatant socialistic leadership of Gore or Kerry. At least Dubya does something right once in a while and he's pretty much tried to do what he said he was going to try to do, including spend a ton of dough. It's sad however, that his private Socialist Security accounts efforts are all dried up.

Hillary Clinton And More Today

Hillary Clinton, it seems, doesn't have near the support in New York that one might expect, according to this New York Daily News article.

Six in 10 New York voters believe Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is planning to run
for president in 2008, but only about a third of her home-state voters say they
would back her if she did so, a statewide poll reported Thursday.

That's encouraging, but why did they send her to the Senate? Slow learners?

This article tells of the anti-Castro sign that made it onto the telecast of Cuba's game in the World Baseball Classic. Of course, the top Cuban official at the game hurried to confront the guy, but Puerto Rican officials schooled the guy in free speech at the local police station.

Just a couple of observations.

Ol' BC Quit Smoking...

...and here's the result!

According to federal tobacco tax figures, cigarettes sales slid 4.2 percent
from 2004 levels in the largest one-year percentage decrease since 1999, the
group said in a statement.

No wonder it seems like I have more money every now and then. Sorry 'bout Uncle's luck though. If Congress would just cut income taxes in a meaningful way, they would recoup the lost revenue and then some.

Just a thought.

Blanco Error Confirmed But Most Media Quiet

This is amazing. Wizbang tells the story here. Wow.

At 9:12 a.m. on August 29, 2005, the National Weather Service had received reports of a levee breach in New Orleans and issued a flash-flood warning.

Shortly after noon that same day, Governor Kathleen Blanco assured Bush administration officials that no levees had breached.

How does this miss the network news?

Just a thought.

Deroy Murdock Sees GOP As Black Friendly

Of course Deroy Murdock is black and he recognizes what Ol' BC has been saying for years now. He sees that taxes have gone down every year Dubya has been in office. He realizes that Bush's black vote increased twenty-two percent in 2004 from 2000. He notices that unemployment is at its lowest level since 2001. He sees that blacks have closed the unemployment gap to 4.8 percent under Bush from 5.5 percent under Clinton. "So Bush's tax cuts have have helped create the best black unemployment picture in a generation." But that isn't all. Ol' BC looked for this column on the web and came up empty, but it is in the local paper. Here's another huge point that I've harped about for years now. Socialist Security.

On Social Security, Bush tried to bridge The Dividend Divide, the nearly
11-1 asset-ownership gap between white and black households. Voluntary
Personal Retirement Accounts would let black individuals and families build nest
eggs and bequeath them to their loved ones. This is excellent for black
males who, on the average, die at age 67.8 after collecting from Social Security
for less than a year, while average white males enjoy seven years of
benefits. Bush's proposed accounts offered an alternative to this mess,
but the Democrats wailed, and his plan died.

Now, the GOP has prominent candidates, who happen to be black, running for office in Ohio, Michigan, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Ol' BC sees blacks who work for a living seeing the light. They are seeing that the liberals and the Democrats only want to give them a little here and there to keep the votes coming in, but don't really have any interest in providing black Americans with opportunity. They definitely don't want to see blacks amass any wealth as their voting records confirm. They want to keep the power and keep the working poor and lower middle class right where they are. Black GOP candidates have a great opportunity here.

Just an observation.

Cell Phone Signals Blocked

By paint. Yes paint. Some people are going spastic over this possibility. Ol' BC, on the other hand, thinks it may have wonderful benefits.

A Rochester, N.Y., company has developed paint that can switch between blocking
cell phone signals and allowing them through.
"You could use this in a
concert hall, allowing cell phones to work before the concert and during breaks,
but shutting them down during the performance," said Michael Riedlinger,
president of NaturalNano.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Awesome potential. The article in its entirety is here. Of course there are those who panic at the thought.

"We oppose any kind of blocking technology," said Joe Farren, spokesman for The
Wireless Association, the leading cell phone trade group. "What about the young
parents whose baby-sitter is trying to call them, or the brain surgeon who needs
notification of emergency surgery? These calls need to get through."

Ol' BC has an idea that may solve this quandary before the government gets involved as so many locals have concerning smoking in restaurants and other places. Pagers. They have been around for years and years and they're cheap. So, if you are going to be going to a facility (a facility mind you, not a government intrusion) that blocks cell phone transmissions and receptions
from time to time, spend ten bucks and get a pager.

Just a thought.
